Sonatech is looking for a responsible individual to fill the position of Facilities Technician. The full-time Facilities Technician is responsible for ensuring reliable and consistent operation of building systems by responding to, resolving, and repairing maintenance issues and requests within the Sonatech facility including offices, labs, engineering, manufacturing, and support areas. This is a key position within the company and will interact with all employees of the Sonatech team.

Job Description:

The Facilities Technician will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining and coordinating the preventative maintenance and repair of the facility's mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems. The successful candidate will be active in the company's facility operations, coordinate projects with the landlord, support physical and personnel security systems, and manage the janitorial services, all while remaining in compliance with local, state and federal regulations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform a wide variety of duties to ensure continual building and equipment operation with minimal daily supervision
  • Visually inspect and perform, or arrange for, preventative maintenance on equipment and internal systems such as air compressors, forklift, pressure chamber, R.O. water systems, acoustic testing tanks & pumps, paint booth, access control systems, alarms, security cameras
  • Primary point-of-contact with the landlord for facilities-related issues
  • Troubleshoot the facilities mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems and coordinate appropriate maintenance and repairs with the landlord
  • Support implementation and maintenance of company security equipment and processes including alarm systems, visitor access and badging
  • Perform daily checks of building and grounds
  • Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves and circuit breakers for equipment and building systems
  • Maintain a maintenance inventory and purchase/requisition parts and supplies as needed
  • Follow all safety and security policies and procedures, including completing safety training and certifications
  • Report any safety hazards, accidents, or injuries
  • Properly maintain and store all facilities materials including hazardous materials
  • Manage activities and storage that happen outside the building, such as proper waste disposal and recycling
  • Fix minor malfunctions in office equipment (and coordinate technical services on copiers & printers)
  • Point-of-contact to implement company's Covid-19 safety measures and coordinate with the EHS and Human Resources team
  • Manage the cleaning and disinfecting of the building including coordinating with the custodial company


  • Work experience as a Facilities Coordinator & Maintenance Technician
  • Knowledge of facilities management operations
  • Ability to read standard blueprints and schematics concerning electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems
  • Solid knowledge and skills in the safe use of hand and power tools
  • Able to take initiative and work independently
  • Forklift or other light moving equipment experience preferred
  • Familiarity with office equipment and security systems
  • Ability to follow and implement safety regulations in offices & manufacturing operations
  • Well-organized & able to track equipment records & maintain schedules
  • Sound judgement and the ability to think quickly during emergencies
  • Computer skills to enable using company email and MS Office applications Word and Excel
  • Valid California state driver's license and ability to drive light duty truck
  • This position requires either US citizenship or permanent residence status

Physical Demands:

  • Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance and heavier lifting or movement tasks with assistance
  • Move up and down stairs, service ramps, and/or ladders
  • Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping
  • Standing and/or walking for up to 8 hours.
